From September 1st to 14th, 2024, Edu Global School high school students embarked on an unforgettable 14-day immersion program to Perth, Australia. This educational adventure was designed to offer students an international learning experience while expanding their cultural horizons. The program was held at two of Perth’s well-established educational institutions: Phoenix Academy and Milner College.
Throughout their stay, the students were exposed to a diverse range of learning environments, from academic institutions to real-world cultural experiences.
Highlights of the Program:
1. Educational Visits
In addition to their regular classes, the students visited several prestigious institutions, such as Curtin University, The University of Western Australia (UWA), Stanley College, Aranmore Catholic College, and TAFE. These visits gave them an inside look at the pathways to higher education in Australia and broadened their perspectives on global education standards.
The group also made a stop at the Indonesian Consulate General (KJRI) in Perth, where they gained insight into the role of the consulate and how it supports Indonesian citizens abroad. A visit to the Pawsey Supercomputing Centre provided them with a unique opportunity to learn about cutting-edge technology and scientific research.
2. Exploring Perth's Iconic Spots
No visit to Perth is complete without exploring the city's landmarks. Students had the chance to experience nature at Kings Park, one of the largest inner-city parks in the world, and dive into Western Australia's cultural heritage in Fremantle. The trip concluded with an exciting visit to Caversham Wildlife Park, where students interacted with Australian wildlife such as kangaroos and koalas.
3. Living with Host Families
To fully immerse themselves in Australian life, students stayed with local homestay families. This allowed them to practice their English in everyday settings and learn more about Australian culture firsthand. The experience of living with host families was often cited as one of the most rewarding aspects of the trip, as students developed meaningful relationships and improved their language skills through daily conversations.
4. Learning Public Transportation
Another invaluable part of the program was learning to navigate Perth’s public transportation system. Students gained confidence as they used buses, trains, and ferries to travel independently to various destinations. This experience not only fostered self-reliance but also allowed them to explore the city from a local’s perspective.
Positive Feedback from Students and Parents
Both students and their parents have expressed overwhelmingly positive feedback about the immersion program. Many students described the experience as life-changing, with one saying, "I’ve learned so much, not just about English, but about different cultures, and how to be more independent. This trip has given me a whole new perspective on the world."
Parents also noted the transformative effect the program had on their children. "My child has come back more confident and mature. The immersion program helped them become more independent and taught them valuable life skills," said one parent.
Overall, the Edu Global School immersion program to Perth proved to be a tremendous success, offering students not only an opportunity to improve their English but also an immersive, enriching cultural experience.
With the positive feedback and strong outcomes from this year’s program, Edu Global School is already looking forward to organizing similar future trips, aimed at providing students with global experiences that will shape their academic and personal growth.
